Cream Sweater and Plaid Scarf

I recently did a poll on Instagram asking if you guys want to see more Thanksgiving outfit ideas. Everyone who voted said yes, so I’m going to share several outfit options here and on Instagram throughout the next week! I like to be very comfortable on Thanksgiving, so an oversized sweater and leggings are pretty much my ideal outfit. Add a scarf or statement jewelry if you want to spice things up a bit. This sweater is the perfect length for leggings and it’s on sale for $53. Links below!

Favorite Mexican Restaurants in OKC/Norman

Hi friends! Some of you may or may not know already, but I have an account on Instagram solely devoted to delicious food and restaurants! I primarily post restaurants in the OKC and Norman areas. But, I like to share restaurants when we are traveling too. I often get asked for restaurant suggestions when my friends and family are in Norman and OKC. So, because of that I wanted to start posting some of our favorite restaurants on here. Billy and I both LOVE Mexican food. It’s 100% my favorite food, hands down. So, in honor of the best food group ever, I thought I would share our favorite Mexican restaurants.

My all time favorite Mexican restaurant is La Fiesta in Ada, OK. When Billy and I were going to college in Ada, we ate there probably once a week. Sometimes more often than that and I’m not totally proud to admit it. But, it’s a little over an hour from where we live now. So, we don’t get to go as often as we like. Because of that, we started branching out and trying other options. Our favorites are listed below, in no particular order! (Disclaimer, we really love Tex-Mex. I’m not sure that I’ve ever had authentic Mexican food, not even when we have traveled to Mexico). So, I’m not claiming to be an expert on the topic, just wanted to share what we love. Also, I judge restaurants on lots of different aspects, not just the food. These are our favorites based on food, drinks, atmosphere and service.

  1. Tarahumara’s: Tarahumara’s is our go-to Mexican restaurant in Norman. It’s only 5 minutes from our house which can be dangerous. They have the best and fastest service I’ve ever experienced. Their sloppy beers, Coronaritas and Bloody Mary’s are so good. Billy loves their enchiladas and I always get the fajitas. P.s. if you are into OU Football, we always see Bob Stoops and Baker Mayfield here. One time Bob Stoops caught Billy trying to sneak a picture of him, it was hilarious.
  2. Fuzzy’s: I love Fuzzy’s for their “Poppin’ Woody” drink and nachos. The Poppin’ Woody is a small bottle of champagne poured over into a frozen strawberry marg. The nachos are huge, they come piled with your choice of meat, white queso, garlic sauce and pico.
  3. Torchy’s Tacos: Torchy’s is still fairly new to Norman. It is a chain restaurant. Torchy’s is known for their unique take on tacos. You can get any taco “trashy” which means take off the lettuce and add queso. Their green chile queso and lime margaritas are so yummy.  I especially love their taco of the month feature. Last month it was a fried chicken strip, blue cheese crumbles, bacon, ranch slaw, and drizzle of honey. The flavors are unique and  delicious.
  4. Puebla Tacos Y Tequileria: We’ve only been going to Puebla probably 6 months, but you guys, IT’S LIFE CHAGING! It’s just a small restaurant on Main Street by The Garage. I wouldn’t have ever realized it was such a gem if it weren’t for Yelp. I read the reviews and decided to try it. Haven’t looked back since! Their margaritas are so so so good (and strong). They don’t use cheap liquors or mixes. They have delicious street tacos and white queso loaded with brisket. It’s definitely a treasure in downtown Norman.
  5. Mama Roja’s: We started going to Mama Roja’s a lot when we lived in Edmond. Lake Hefner was about a 10 minute drive from our house. I love the atmosphere there. We always ask for a table overlooking the lake. It’s gorgeous! The patio is great during summer. I like to get their house margaritas, loaded queso and cheese crisps!
  6. The Lazy Donkey: Anyone who knows me well knows that I am a sucker for white queso. It is my absolute favorite thing in the world. When I lived in Stillwater, we always had easy access to white queso via El Vaq or El Tap. Even in Tish, La Fiesta in Ada or El Tap in Ardmore or Durant were always a close drive. But since living in Norman, we haven’t found a Mexican restaurant that has the creamy deliciousness that is white queso. That is, until I discovered The Lazy Donkey. This place is tiny and not in the best neighborhood, but they have the good stuff. The margaritas and food are good. But the queso is the best part to me. Below is a pineapple, stuffed full of steak, chicken, shrimp, peppers, onions and pineapples, covered by cheese.
  7. Barrios: Barrios is a great place to go if you’re in the mood for a different take on Mexican food. It’s an adorable place, very esthetically pleasing and insta-worthy. They have one of my favorite patio’s in OKC. Drinks and atmosphere get an A+ from me. I also really like their shrimp fajitas and queso fundido.
  8. Chuy’s: I first tried Chuy’s in Texas and don’t remember being that impressed. But recently we’ve been going to the one in Norman and we really like it. I love all of their sauce choices.
  9. 3 Tequilas: 3 Tequilas is not my favorite restaurant on this list, but when we lived in Edmond I felt like the Mexican restaurants were really lacking for the most part. 3 Tequilas won me over with their massive margaritas and of course, white queso.
  10. Ted’s: Ted’s is honestly a no-brainer for me. I know it’s not the most authentic Mexican food, but those fresh flour tortillas smothered in butter get me every. single. time.

Suede Skirt

You guys, Thanksgiving is so close I can taste it. Pumpkin pie and all you can eat turkey are calling my name. With the holidays approaching, I wanted to post some outfit inspo for you guys. Personally, I’m the kind of gal that wears leggings and oversized sweaters to Thanksgiving meals, but I know some of you folks are more formal. This outfit would be great for a nicer Thanksgiving dinner. I also think this would be a great look for family photos or fall engagement photos. I love this cognac colored skirt, but it also comes in a wine color that is just gorgeous! Plus, suede is very on trend for fall. The best part about it, it’s super affordable. I’ve linked everything below!

Pink Free People Sweater

Pumpkin season is quickly coming to an end. It feels like it just started. So sad! One thing that is always on my bucket list for fall is a trip to the pumpkin patch. This year we went to Bakers Acres in Tishomingo. It’s great for kiddos but also makes for a perfect date night! Outfit details linked below.

When we travel to Tish, we usually detour through one of the nearby towns for lunch or dinner. This trip we decided to stop at The Rusty Nail Winery in Sulphur, OK. They have delicious wine and great appetizers. Definitely a must if you’re traveling through Southern OK!

Game Day Series: Football Tee

Hey hey, friends! We are currently watching the first NFL game of the season while I’m typing this! I could not be happier. I seriously eat this stuff up. This week for the Game Day Series post, I decided to share a tee that supports football in general, rather than a specific team. It’s perfect for a college or professional game, not so much high school considering it has the word “beer” on it, haha! But I have a cute tee for high school games I’ll post soon. Enjoy your weekend and good luck to you and your favorite teams!

FYI, if you can’t tell from the photo, this tee says “drink beer watch football”. My photographer, aka Billy forgot to mention the fact that my hair was covering up my tee in all of the pics we took. Ha! This tee is from RiffRaff, a boutique in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I may or may not have made Billy road trip with me once to Fayetteville just so I could go to this boutique in person after shopping it online for years. The town is darling and they have THE best game day tees. I’ll link this one below.

2017 Fall Décor: Living Room

Hi friends! Fall is quickly creeping up on us and I couldn’t be more excited. Today I grabbed a pumpkin spice latte and finished my inside fall decorating! Decorating for fall is one of my favorite fall activities. It never fails, I always have my house decorated before the first official day of fall (September 22) ever arrives. Nothing like being prepared! I can’t help it. In my world, fall begins when football starts and Starbucks starts serving PSL’s again. Ha!

When it comes to fall décor, my favorite store is Homegoods (which is where the majority of these products came from). I cannot brag on Homegoods enough. The only downside is, they don’t have an online store so you must actually go into the store. I promise, if you don’t live near a Homegoods, it’s worth the drive to Norman. I was really impressed by their variety. I wouldn’t consider myself “traditional” in my decorating style. I like things a little bit funky (ex. gold chevron striped pumpkins). Luckily, Homegoods has a little bit of everything for every decorating style. Inside I like to decorate with fake pumpkins, whereas outside I like to use the real thing. I’m not sure exactly what I would call this style of fall décor, but it’s totally me and I hope you like it! I’m sorry I can’t link the products, but most of them are from Homegoods. I also love Hobby Lobby and At Home for fall décor, they always have great finds! If you have questions about a specific piece, let me know and I can see if our Homegoods has it in stock! I also wanted to add, if you’re interested in this white and gold color scheme, but won’t be around a Homegoods anytime soon, Nordstrom has some ADORABLE pieces that you can check out here.

Mantel: The mantel in our living room is definitely the focal point of the room. It’s the primary spot in our home that I decorate for fall, because there’s so much good space to work with. The bundles of wheat, both pumpkins on the mantel and thankful sign are all from Homegoods. The large mirror is from At Home, click here for the direct link to the mirror. The fall garland is from an Etsy shop, I really love this one.

Fireplace: I felt there was enough room at the bottom of the fireplace to add a few more items. I typically like to keep things on the mantel and fireplace very balanced and symmetrical. That’s why I added the bundles of wheat on opposite sides of the mantle. However, since that was so symmetrical, I thought it would look good if the décor at the bottom of the fireplace wasn’t as matchy matchy. Disclaimer: As you can probably tell I have ZERO education or training in any type of interior design. So, that’s why I use words like matchy matchy. I’m sure there are words out there that are more accurate and correct but I don’t know them! Ha. The “Blessed” sign, silver basket of pumpkins are both from Homegoods. The pumpkins and vases are from Hobby Lobby, from past seasons.

Dining room/Kitchen:  I don’t personally love a lot of seasonal decorations in the kitchen or dining room. I think it’s because our kitchen and dining room are fairly small, so I’m afraid to clutter them too much. So, I kept it really simple. I added a pumpkin light and this candle to our kitchen bar. This specific light I bought a few years ago at Homegoods, but I found a similar light here. In the dining room, I keep a mirrored tray and just change-up the tray a bit with changing seasons. So, I took out a vase of flowers I had right there and replaced it with a small glass gold pumpkin.

Entryway: Lastly is our entryway! Which, is very casual. I’m not 100% sure I will keep it this way, I think I would rather have something less casual. So I’m keeping my eye out for something new!

I hope you all have enjoyed this post! As soon as I get my front porch decorated I will be sharing that on here. If you have any questions about the items in this post or just need some decorating advice, please don’t hesitate to ask me!

Game Day Series: Orange Tee- Go Pokes!

Happy Orange Thursday, friends! This is the second post of the game day inspired series! The first outfit I posted was a cute dress option for an OU game, you can find it here. So, naturally on this beautiful college game day an orange look just seems right! This top comes off as a coral (ish) color in the photos but it’s truly orange. This look is laid back and comfortable. Perfect for tailgating and rooting on the Cowboys! Enjoy and go pokes!

Mumu Thatcher Tie Top

Hey friends! Happy Tuesday. Yesterday we celebrated Billy’s 27th birthday! I cannot believe we are so old. When I was a teenager, I thought I would have kids and a big house by 26. But now, I’m just trying to take things day by day. We’re extremely happy about where we are in life right now. We’ve both been employed at jobs we love for over a year. Billy works as a relationship banker at First United Bank and I’m a social worker at Norman Regional Hospital. We’re very happy with where our careers are. I’m under supervision for my clinical license and love my mentor/supervisor Whitney. We have a cute little home in Norman with our fur babes. Life is good. I couldn’t ask for anything more. We are so thankful for our health, our family and one another.

Billy is an easy guy to please. I took him to Saltgrass for dinner (his preference). We came home and he watched football on TV. Pretty much his idea of a perfect night. Good steak and football, who can blame the guy? I’ve linked the outfit I wore to our date down below. This blush/rose top is flowy perfection. I definitely recommend sizing once size down. It’s originally $140 and on sale for $98!

Cashmere Poncho

I know it’s hard to begin thinking of fall outfits considering it’s 90 degrees out, ha! But, I’m a believer that you can never be too prepared. Personally, I typically seem to find the best fall finds in July and August. If I find a good deal on a sweater or pair of boots, I snag them immediately because I know come October or November, they’ll be sold out. Growing up my mom only let me shop the current season. I know it’s because I got bored with clothes once the new wore off, so if I bought it to wear the next season, I probably wouldn’t like it anymore once that season came. But, as an adult, I’ve found that you find the best deals and styles before the season even begins. Most of the time, anyway. I think a big part of this, is because of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I bought so many cute things but haven’t been able to share them until now because so many things sell out so quickly. One of my favorite pieces, is this Halogen Cashmere Poncho. Even though it’s not on sale, I still consider it to be pretty affordable for cashmere. It’s perfectly oversized and cozy for cold weather. I can’t wait to wear this in fall.
